Manufacturers have increased their use of locally sourced raw materials over a three-year period. The share of local raw materials used rose from 51.5 per cent to 57.1 per cent between 2021 and 2024. This represents an 11 per cent increase over the period. Foreign exchange pressures and rising import costs are among the factors that have driven manufacturers to seek domestic alternatives.

The trend is evident in data from the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, which shows a steady rise in local raw material sourcing. The Director-General of the association has attributed the improvement to increased efforts by manufacturers.
