Recent attacks have triggered a fresh population movement, resulting in over 6,000 displaced people. A joint humanitarian assessment found that population movements are continuing and expanding across parts of the affected area. The displaced persons are from five villages and include a significant number of children, pregnant women, and adult males and females. The assessment also identified unaccompanied persons among the displaced population.

The affected population is in need of assistance, with the assessment documenting their situation. Further details about the displacement and the assessment are available.

The joint assessment was conducted by several organizations, including the Nigerian Red Cross Society and Médecins Sans Frontières, between August 28 and 31, 2026.
