The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission has issued a revised order to electricity Distribution Companies. This directive requires them to use a portion of their operating revenue for critical network improvement projects. The goal is to accelerate network upgrades and improve electricity supply reliability.

The order aims to ensure that available revenues are invested in critical infrastructure. It follows a review of the Distribution Companies' revenue utilisation during the 2025 market cycle. The new directive took effect from September 4, 2026.

Further details on the revised order and its implementation are available from the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission's statement issued on Wednesday.
