Heirs Energies faced significant challenges with its $1.1 billion asset, including a substantial loss of oil during transportation. At one point, only 3 out of every 100 barrels of oil pumped into the pipeline reached the export terminal, with the rest being lost to theft.

The company built a digital control layer, the Integrated Operations Management Centre, to track issues such as pressure drops and flow rates in real time. This effort aimed to rescue the asset and improve operations.

Further details on the use of digital technology to address operational challenges and the economics of the project are available, including the story of turning around Oil Mining Lease 17, which Heirs Energies took over in 2021.
